All lawyers in the office
have had a classic all-round training followed by specialisation.
They are familiar with preventive as well as curative work
(advice, contracts, negotiations, lawsuits).
As a result of his training each jurist should theoretically
be able to answer any legal question.
In practice there are areas of expertise that are better
known because they are treated more often and because there is more affinity
with them.
Experience and expertise certainly play a role, although
we do not believe in an overly one-sided expertise, which could lead to
not seeing the wood for the trees.
We specialise in:
- business law
Business law has many facets. We step in whenever your company
is involved in situations with legal implications.
For example: setting up a business and the choice of legal
status, drawing up statutes, shareholder agreements, assistance during
general meetings, negotiation of rental or purchase contracts for company
premises, checking leasing contracts, staff employment contracts, drafting
distribution contracts with agents, conflicts between partners, dismissal
of employees, problems with banks and suppliers, debt recovery, sale of
business or company shares, etc.
- employment contract law, including problems
involving expatriates and staff on secondment
- rent law (commercial rent, as well as
office rent and residential rent)
- property law (purchase, sale, co-ownership,
usufruct, building and planting rights, annuity if problems arise during
construction or renovation of buildings, disputes between clients, contractors,
architects and engineers)
- mediation in civil and commercial disputes,
i.e., solving conflicts outside the courtroom. It goes without saying
that mediation techniques are used in all sorts of cases, where appropriate.
For each case we take the time to meet with the client.
If you are new you will notice that besides the sheer legal aspect, we
also take an interest in your activities as such. Good understanding of
what clients do, how they work and what the customs are in their sector
helps us in the efficient follow-up of the case. Thanks to this special
attention we become experts in our clients’ fields and not theoretical
super scholars in a rather restricted field.
What you do is of real interest to us. It enables us to
do our job well.
This resulted in us building up special know-how through
the years in:
- the selective distribution of luxury goods,
- supermarket franchising,
- road transport,
- commercial telecoms (Audiotex services, SMS, Internet),
- advertising,
- store rentals,
- SMEs in jeopardy,
- employment of foreign employees,
- social status of managers.
